Scholarship guidance: common questions
Something not covered here? Ask us on WhatsApp and we’ll answer it.
Are there fully funded scholarships in Europe?
Some awards cover fees and living costs, such as Italian regional scholarships for eligible students and some DAAD scholarships. They are competitive or income-based, so we check what you can realistically apply for. DAAD scholars typically receive €992 a month at master’s level, and Italian regional scholarships can include a cash grant, meals, housing and a fee waiver.
Can I get a scholarship with average grades?
Yes, some. Need-based awards such as Italy’s regional scholarships look mainly at family income in the first year, and no grades are needed at that stage, but you must then pass about 20 credits or repay the money. Merit awards look at grades. DAAD awards are competitive and usually need a strong academic record.
Do I have to pay a scholarship back?
No, scholarships are not loans, but some can ask for money back if you do not meet their conditions. Italian regional scholarships, for example, require enough credits: if you miss the credit target, the award is revoked and you repay the cash, the meals and housing used, and the tax refund. We explain the conditions before you apply.
Can you guarantee a scholarship?
No. Awards are decided by the scholarship body, and nobody can honestly guarantee one. We make sure you apply for the right ones, on time and with the correct documents, such as the family income papers Italian regional scholarships ask for. We also choose universities with the scholarship region in mind.
